Clinic Spotlight

We are pleased to announce the opening of Milwaukee Family Medicine – UMC PNS’s newest clinic with a layout which includes a UMC EMS station. The clinic is located on the Milwaukee corridor where many commercial businesses – especially restaurants – are populating the avenue. Milwaukee Family Medicine, 7301 Milwaukee Avenue, welcomes both routine family medicine and urgent care.

Family Practitioner Dr. Tyson Purdy, Amanda Morman, PA-C and Stacey Zube, FNP-C will be the providers at the new location. The clinic is open seven days a week: Mondays – Fridays from 8am to 8pm, Saturdays from 9am – 5pm and on Sundays from 1 – 5pm. There are nine exam rooms including one that also serves as a procedure room. Laboratory and X-ray are located onsite.

Powered by wait from home, patients are encouraged to register online at waitfromhome.com but also have the option of calling the clinic, 761-0464, to schedule an appointment. By registering online, patients can wait from the comfort of their home or office until they are messaged to come to the clinic for their appointment. An employee will assist patient upon arrival to ensure that they are able to conveniently move through the check-in process at one of the two WaitFromHome kiosks and to answer any questions they may have.

UMC EMS has been provided by UMC Health System since 1975 and responds to over 26,000 emergency calls a year. The station at Milwaukee will have two bays and two ambulances providing accessible emergency services to this growing neighborhood.

UMC PNS is excited about the Powered by Wait From Home technology at Milwaukee Family Medicine and how it will help minimize wait times as we work to provide the perfect patient experience.

Tyson Purdy, M.D. Family Practitioner at Milwaukee Family Medicine

Dr. Tyson Purdy, Family Practitioner, is the physician at Milwaukee Family Medicine. He joined UMC PNS about a year ago and worked at Minor Emergency Center with the goal of working at the new UMC PNS clinic on Milwaukee Avenue.

He received his undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University and attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He completed his Family Medicine Residency at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa in San Antonio, Texas in 2011. Dr. Purdy left a successful private practice in his hometown of Muleshoe to join UMC Physician Network Services in Lubbock.

Dr. Purdy, the middle son of Dr. and Mrs. Bruce Purdy, was just three years old when he told his mother that he wanted to grow up to be a doctor like his Dad, a Family Practitioner in Muleshoe. He always loved science and says he was the “science geek” with the chemistry set and the magnifying glass. In addition to being a physician, his father was his Coach, his Boy Scout Leader and ultimately his role-model and mentor.  True to his word, he followed in his father’s footsteps by becoming a physician.

Prior to doing rotations during his medical training, Dr. Purdy was convinced Cardiology was his area of interest and then considered Sports Medicine. After doing a Family Medicine rotation at John Peter Smith in Fort Worth, Texas, where his brother was a resident, he was sold on Family Medicine. He could do it all – adults and pediatrics – suture a laceration, treat a child with an earache, manage a patient with chronic disease, treat a sports injury or deliver a baby. While he enjoys all areas of family health care, his special areas of interest are pediatrics and sports.

Dr. Purdy and his wife, Kayla, have two children – Rylan and Reese. They attend Aldersgate Methodist Church. He grew up hunting, fishing and camping. He still appreciates the outdoors. Today, he spends time outside of work with his family, enjoying outdoor activities and traveling. And, he is a big Red Raider Fan.
