Family Practitioner Dr. Victor Chavez practiced medicine at various Emergency Rooms in West Texas before opening Minor Emergency Center (MEC) in Lubbock on September 28, 1982. MEC is located on University, just south of 50th Street. The practice consists of Family Medicine, Urgent Care, OccMed and Industrial Medicine. Laboratory and X-ray services are available onsite.
Minor Emergency has a long-standing reputation for excellence in health care delivery. If you are looking for a family practitioner, Minor Emergency Center has three experienced physicians and a family nurse practitioner, who rotate their schedules to cover the clinic’s hours. Family Practitioners Dr. Victor Chavez, Dr. Cherrylene Lindgren and Dr. Jason Lentz and Family Nurse Practitioner Roxanne Chavez offer comprehensive care for patients of all ages whether it is an acute care need such as a sore throat or flu, or a chronic health need such as diabetes or hypertension.
Occupational Medicine Services provided at the clinic include pre-employment physicals, DOT physicals, drug screening and breath alcohol testing. MEC also treats workers’ comp injuries working with the employer and the injured employee to return them to work as quickly as possible.
Unique to this location are the various vaccines offered. In addition to standard immunizations and flu vaccines, they offer travel vaccines such as yellow fever and oral typhoid fever vaccines.
Patients can make appointments or simply walk-in. No appointment is necessary. When an urgent care need arises, patients can walk-in without an appointment or they can use the UMC Physicians developed online registration program, “Wait from Home”. Wait from Home allows patients to sign in online and wait from the comfort of their home until they receive a text, email or phone call that it is time to go to the clinic.
